Hot Topic: Meisterplan | Jira integration is moving forward

Hello everyone, As we received feedback from our beta testers, we have decided to increase the scope of the first release of the Jira integration. Many told us that support for JQL would be really valuable to them. So we’ll support using JQL queries to specify the Jira data you want to link to a Meisterplan project! This way you’ll have full flexibility for packaging Jira work into a Meisterplan project – from individual issues to releases or sprints to entire Jira projects.

  4. We have started on the development of the Hot Topic "Combined Reporting for Projects, Allocations, and Capacities". This will allow users to evaluate resource capacities and allocations simultaneously in a single report. We are also planning further improvements, such as clearer analysis of allocations, over-allocations, and remaining capacity, as well as the ability to configure options such as Time Slicing Period and Allocation Unit directly in the report rather than having to switch to Reports view. The Help Center will provide instructions explaining how existing reports can be changed to the new format. Hot Topic: Meisterplan | Jira integration is moving forward

Hello everybody, Exciting stuff – our first beta testers are taking the upcoming Jira integration for a spin! There are still a few open spots, so be sure to let us know if you’re interested in Meisterplan and Jira or if you have any questions. Stay tuned for a release soon! With the first release of Meisterplan for Jira, you can link Meisterplan projects to Jira epics and view Jira data directly in Meisterplan. See at a glance which work steps are included in a project and which steps can be completed with the resources allocated in Meisterplan. Follow this thread by clicking “Follow” in the top right corner to receive email alerts for new posts.
  7. In order to finish linking your Tableau to Meisterplan I suggest we quickly meet up for a web session. I will get back to you with an invitation by email. Talk to you soon!
  8. Thank you @Manuel Schneider! Do you have the correct SSL file for us to use, or do we need to configure one? If we need to configure one, please can you let me know the parameters that are needed by the Meisterplan database to be accessible for Tableau? Can't wait to play with our data - 2019 has started well! Thanks again. Carly
  9. Carly, Please find the answers below: - Is it a 32bit PostgreSQL driver or 64bit? -> That depends on your Tablea version, thus if you use Tableau 32-bit or Tableau 64-bit. - What is the database name? - What is the database password (email: carly.santer@bayer.com)? -> You can find the reporting database credentials in your Meisterplan instance. In the side bar on the left, navigate to "Reports". Aftwerwards, click on "Reporting Data". This will open a menu where you can activate the "reporting database". After clicking the checkbox you will be able to see the database name and password (see Screenshot attached). - Do we need to configure an SSL file to load the data? -> Yes. Does this help? Regards Manuel
  10. Hello again... @Manuel Schneider - please can you confirm: - Is it a 32bit PostgreSQL driver or 64bit? - What is the database name? - What is the database password (email: carly.santer@bayer.com)? - Do we need to configure an SSL file to load the data? We are using Tableau Desktop behind a Firewall. Thanks again! Carly

    Staffing Roles

Hi Thomas, many thanks for your help, and yes of course re the allocation first, must have been the pre-Christmas shut down that made me omit this. Adding the allocation now makes it not greyed out. kind regards and happy new year. kind regards Vicky
  16. Hello! I'm trying to duplicate the sample strategic portfolio from Tableau using my Tibco Spotfire software, which is a competitor to Tableau. I've got the external connections working, but I'm getting lost in trying to select all the specific tables from the external reporting database so that I can duplicate that bubble chart in Spotfire. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Mike

    Staffing Roles

Hi Vicky, have you entered any allocation on the role first? If you staff a role on a project and then in the second step you want to staff from that role down to resources, the "Staff Role" option is greyed out as long as there is no allocation planned onto the role first. Please let me know if this helped you. Best regards and merry christmas Thomas

    Staffing Roles

Hi, have recently added a number of 'Roles' to Meisterplan, when looking to 'Staff the Role' the option is greyed out in the pop-up menu. There are known resources in the system with associated roles so should be able to staff said roles. Any suggestions / solutions gratefully received. kind regards Vicky

Hot Topic: Meisterplan | Jira integration is moving forward

Hi everyone, here’s a quick update from the Meisterplan team! We are currently implementing the first iteration of the link between Jira and Meisterplan. With this iteration, users will be able to link Meisterplan projects to Jira epics. The other types of Jira items that were mentioned in the original post (Jira project, Jira release,…) are not part of this first iteration. Here’s an updated peek at how this will look for users who import a Jira epic as a new Meisterplan project: First, users select which epics they want to import. Then they assign resources to those projects in Meisterplan, and get a clear view of how many Jira stories can get finished given the allocation entered in Meisterplan. Stay tuned for further updates (don’t forget to follow this thread by clicking “Follow” in the top right corner)!
  21. Interesting question, and one that probably doesn't have one 'right' answer. You have a number of factors to take into account, for example: Do the projects for the different business areas use a shared pool of resources? If resources are strictly within different business areas, what's the benefit of a combined instance? How different are the requirements for the different groups of users? If the business areas have different key custom fields, project stage gates, scoring attributes etc., perhaps it's better to maintain separate instances. How confidential is your data? Meisterplan allows portfolio owners to see other work that their resources are using (though they can't affect it) What are your reporting requirements? If it's necessary to provide a view across the whole of the company's activity, then it makes sense to have a combined site with all projects, resources, dependencies? Do you have a BI tool that could aggregate the data from different Meisterplan instances, to give an overall view? As I said at the start, not an answer, but some thoughts that make help you towards the right answer for you. Have other customers followed a similar route?
  22. Hi, We started to use Meisterplan at the end of 2017 starting with only one business group - we currently have 125 resources within this now. Half way through this year we began to gain interest from other teams in different business area's so we have opened up two seperate instances for their business area's. We are now looking to begin to ask all teams from all business area's to use the tool and I would be really interested to hear how other businesses have done this? We believe that we should move all back onto one instance for the ease of reporting, however this would could involve up to 1000 resources within it and more users updating. Please can people share their best practices on this as would be interesting to hear pros and cons of either situation? Many thanks Daisy
  23. Thanks for fixing it! Have a great week! M

    Filtering by Resource Skills

@Manuel Schneider many thanks for your response, to my query and look forward to having the option to select specifically based on skills only, as skills can be across multiple roles and in a fast moving and large resource pool this would be significantly beneficial, and with the identification of future resource needs (interim and long-term). The option re roles is very useful and the ability to staff and replace once a resource is identified from the role group is a good function. kind regards

    Meisterplan Round Table

Great to see that you are going to participate! As Daisy suggested, let's make the project score our first topic. I think it would be interesting to broaden the discussion to project prioritzition methods and possibilities in general. Looking forward to the first MP Round Table
  26. Thank you @Daisy - here's to our first Round Table!
  27. Hi Mihai, Thank you for letting us know. We are currently working on the issue and I will keep you updated Regards Manuel
